The dormant Lone Star Region has been officially closed out at the national level, so a name change has been implemented for the North Texas Region. We are now the Texas Region. As a result, our Region will now include all of Louisiana as well as areas previously a part of the Lone Star Region. We will be extending a free membership for one year to all former Lone Star members in hopes that they will shift their membership to our region and continue to enjoy the benefits of the CCCA Texas Region..
Hello fellow caraholics! The cooler weather is right around the corner, and we have lots of fun things lined up to finish out the year.
Before I get started with regular club business, I would like to share some good news! Berta Hackney has enjoyed significant recovery in the last couple of months, and wishes to host our Christmas party in Hubbard this year! I know we are all very glad to hear of her improvement, and look forward to another trip to her lovely home in Hubbard to see her and enjoy gathering together for the holidays. (Details will be forthcoming).
We will also be implementing more activities in the future for the Central Texas and Houston areas to try and increase membership and attendance from members in those respective areas. The first be our 2016 CARavan, which will start in Seabrook (south of Houston), tour out west through the Central Texas Hill Country, and return to Seabrook at the end of the week. I hope many of our North Texas members will take advantage of this great trip being planned for the last week in April, or volunteer to help us with the many tasks that have to be taken care of with such a big undertaking. Thanks go out to Al Kroemer for stepping in as Tour Director to handle this monumental task.
I also want to take a moment to welcome some new members back into the fray. They were members years ago and are making a return. Leroy and Mary Ann Menning, from down in Yoakum, TX, and Dave and Sheli Buice from here in Dallas. The Mennings have been avid car collectors for many years, and Dave and Shelli own a 1937 AC that formerly belonged to Frank Lloyd Wright. We hope to see both of these couples at our upcoming activities. Welcome back folks!
On October 17th, we will be holding our NTR annual meeting luncheon at the Marriott Hotel in Westlake to announce our new officers for the 2016 calendar year. This will be in conjunction with the 5th annual Westlake Fund Raiser Car Show benefiting the Westlake Historical Society. I have been preaching the quality of this show, and the vehicles it showcases since its inception, and if you have not been able to attend before now, please plan to come out and enjoy a very well orchestrated with heavy emphasis on Full Classics and
other completely original cars up through 1959. Our meeting will begin at 11:30 that morning, with plenty of time to get back to the show by awards time.
The one event each year that I truly look forward to is the Not So Grand Classic at Mike and Joy Ames’ home in Arlington. This year it is on Saturday, November 7th, and promises to be chock full of new Full Classics to the club that we have not had exposure to previously. This is always a fun time that is heavily attended by our membership. Plan on coming and driving something interesting to see. Whether it’s a Full Classic, or a Neo-Classic, this event brings out all types of interesting iron to enjoy. Details and sandwich menus will go out as we get closer.
I’ll see you down the road!
We embrace individuals who share our interests, appreciate the camaraderie and who support the goals of the club.
Celebrating the Cars of the Classic Era
The Classic Car Club of America defines a Classic as a “Fine” or “Distinctive” automobile, American or foreign built, produced between 1915* and 1948.
We are sure you know someone who loves cars and would enjoy being part of the CCCA as much as you do. Give a gift you'll both enjoy all year long, a CCCA Membership!
Your Classic friend will receive a card announcing your gift to them, the Handbook and Members Roster and full member benefits for the year.
Welcome to the Texas Region of the Classic Car Club of America!
You don't need to own a Classic car to enjoy our web site or become a member of our club.
